My name is Basia Stryjecka,
and I’m a Michigan-based
artist and graphic designer
behind Little Valley Studio.
My goal is to bring a sense of play, texture, and creativity to your life or design projects.
My adventure with artwork started seven years ago, when I decided to take the first step to change the direction of my career from a full-time graphic designer to a full-time artist. In my free time, I began to create small abstract watercolor paintings, which I sold as art prints. Throughout the years, my style naturally evolved through experimentation and play. I now offer a variety of products, from art prints to design assets. One common thread in my work is the tactile feel. My goal is to bring a sense of play, texture, and creativity to your life or design projects.
My creative process

The first step in my creative process is to gather inspiration. From photos of yesterday’s walk, a recent trip, saved paper samples, snippets of colors and textures from found objects. Inspiration can lay all around us, even in everyday items.
The second step in my creative process is experimentation and play. This is where things get messy and don’t always look pretty. Any idea or technique is welcome here. Once I stumble upon an interesting idea, I explore it until I notice that something unique is taking shape.
Once I have enough experiments, I begin to refine my work. All hand-painted pieces are then scanned at high resolution. I play around with colors and create final compositions. My last step is to mock up my work in a variety of scenarios to show the fun and helpful ways it can be used.
